Mullineux Old Vines White 2019

Swartland, Coastal Region, South Africa

Decadence and depth—a white for decanting and long, lavish dinners. A blend of Chenin Blanc, Clairette Blanche, Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Semillon Gris, Macabeo and Verdelho.

N Cantaloup with a kiss of honey and lime zest hit first. Then it heads towards camembert country—grass-fed butter, peach pit and peace lilies. And finally the bass notes take over—roasted macadamia and oyster mushroom.

P Facts first—full-bodied, medium acid, bone dry, high alcohol. Nothing lithe about this. Clean, pure and powerful. Long, rich, ripe and savoury from start to finish.

$ British Columbia, private wine shops—$60
