Breakfast Latte

Breakfast lattes are gold.

Warming. Awakening. Satiating.

In this version, turmeric gifts its golden hue plus anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Extra spice and fat warm and fuel you after a cold dip at the beach.

Ingredients:

  • single portion of freshly brewed stovetop espresso

  • 1/2 cup full-fat milk

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric + pinch of fresh black pepper (piperine in black pepper magnifies curcumin absorption in the body—the active ingredient in turmeric)

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • pinch of Maldon salt

  • 1 tbsp MCT oil

  • 1 tsp of honey—creamed honey is best here (optional)

  • sprinkle of cocoa powder to finish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Fire up the stovetop espresso

  2. While the espresso is perking, gently warm the milk, turmeric, cinnamon, nutmeg, Maldon salt and MCT over low heat. I like to do this with the lid on. By the time the espresso has perked (5-8 minutes), the golden mylk is just hot

  3. Turn off all the elements and pour the espresso into the golden mylk, stir gently and pour into your favourite mug. Sprinkle with cocao for added richness.
