AOWELL WINE

Where wine has graced the table for multiple millennia.

Wine’s greatest gift is its evocative nature—

Its ability to transport us to a vivid place in our memory, or an imagined landscape. It’s a liquid conversation between mother nature, maker and community. Grab your glass and tune in. Immerse yourself in its theatre.

Follow along my wine journey. Get inspired. Start your own. Salut!

Every wine I taste lands on a page in a notebook…

You will only find wines here that I have enjoyed and am excited to share with you. The wines I write about tell us something about where they’re from and the people who make them. The vigneron is the MC. Mother Nature plays the lead. Lest we forget, one does not exist without the other.

Organic is important. Sustainability is important. Naturalness is important.

Enrico Winery ‘Newton’ Reserve Pinot Noir 2020

Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, Canada

Pinot Noir from estate grown grapes. Partially destemmed fruit, partially whole cluster. 80% New French oak. 2020 was a cool vintage, and this wine in particular struggled to reach quality extraction temperatures. Despite these challenges, this turned out to be a lovely wine.
